Life's a Pitch Brief

Start to understand the industry and the different things illustration can be. This will make me think more specifically about where my career can go.

Business, marketing, presentation, costing…
These are the nuts and bolts of the job, not the creative side. These are the things we NEED to know.

How do I use collaboration to build and progress my individual practice?

The jobs that and illustrator can go into…

LIFE'S A PITCH

Not actually asking us to put this into practice, just reference the core knowledge you would need to set things up.
Networkinh, contacts, feed into future career. Think outside the box, explore the possibilities.
Present on 1st February - 10 minute formal group presentation.

Questions

How formal does it need to be?
It depends on the tone of the project and how we define formal. It needs to be taken seriously but this depends on who you are aiming the pitch at, sometimes humour may be appropriate.

Does it have to be a physical artefact?
No it doesn't have to be a physical thing, it can be a project, festival, event, initiative, service, etc. You need to develop an understanding of the areas and opportunities available.

Should we contact studios and businesses for advice?
Some companies or individuals might be unwilling to share their business information. There are plenty of people around though who would be willing to share valuable information.

Do we decide our own budget?
There is no set budget, so yes this needs to be considered and decided by us. It needs to be justifies and income and expenditure needs to be considered. Also need to consider where the money is coming from (investment, personal money or grants…).

Can it be a project solving an imaginary problem?
Base it on reality because there are so many real problems already. Use your imagination to solve the problem, not to create one.

Is the idea meant to be sustainable or a one-off project?
Think of it as something that will be sustained, it gives you more to think about and consider. Think of the future, what will it be like in 12 months or 2 years, etc..?
