Creative Presence Research Continued

I have briefly researched into five other practitioners and looked at their creative presence. I noticed a lot of similarities between them all. For starters, the homepage for the majority of their websites showed multiple examples of their work which is always a good start. They also have links to their online shops (often run through Etsy) and their social media accounts. Blogs are something that don't appear on all of these, some practitioners do have them but when you click on the link for Olimpia Zagnoli, it leads you to her Instagram account. I suppose there are many different platforms for blogging depending on how you like to work. It also depends on whether you will maintain a blog, otherwise it doesn't really serve a purpose.

A lot of practitioners have categorised their work into areas to search within, such as editorial, travel, sketchbooks, pattern, etc. I was also trying to look for self promotion examples but I was struggling. I had one of Drew Millward's beermats on my desk and I thought it was a good example of using skills in a creative way to get yourself out there. it fits very well with the tone of his website and social media platforms.

One thing that is crucial is to have the same theme running across all platforms so that it is recognisable as mine. Seeing as there is another illustrator with the same name as me I feel that it is doubly important that my creative presence has a strong theme running across it so it can clearly be identified as my own.
