Laura Ann Coates

This image caught my eye because at first glance the image looks intricate and detailed but when you look closer, you can see the wobbly and crooked lines that it is formed from. I think this style makes the image more personal because it has only included the information that she has selected as important. I like how she has translated the intricate detailed parts of the buildings into disorderly, vague suggestions of a repeated patterns.

The images below are created using stitch - this is something I would like to experiment more with in the future. I don't particularly like the first image because I find the composition quite misleading. I can see that a suggestion of a foreground has been made but I think this is distracting from the main focus of the car. I think the second image shows how stitch can be used in the same way as continuous line and the simplicity of this is a lot more effective. If I am going to experiment with this media I may choose to use varying thicknesses or colours of thread because I think a downfall of  using thread is that you can't get the effect of varying pressure like you can with pencil.
