The Illustrated Self - idea development continued

Something I discovered - The difference between drawing and illustration.

I like this simple idea because it shows a clear divide. I couldn't think of how to show the different things that need to be considered in an illustration on such a small scale so I included words such as 'aims', 'concept' and 'research' to hint at this. Also the workload on the right looks a lot heavier and fills the space more.

Something beautiful - Yorkshire.

These were my first ideas but I was steering away from including myself in the images. I need to get back on track and keep something consistent between all of my images.

This idea of me looking out the train window at the Yorkshire countryside gets across the beauty of the landscape and also the theme of travel in general.

Somewhere I found myself - At my laptop, blogging.

This idea came from a sketch at the very start of this project. Its simple but I think it gets across the focus and monotony of blogging.

Something I heard - Advice from professionals.

My original idea was about being told that bad drawings are okay but this was a very specific point to try and get across so I broadened it to advice from professionals. I really struggled with this idea as I didn't want this image to have the same composition as my image about meeting new people. I experimented with the idea of a funnel and I think this works well and makes a clear and interesting illustration.

Revisited - Meeting new people.

I went back to my previous roughs and decided to run with this idea. I wanted to put more character in the faces so I chose photos where different faces were being pulled. Some of these went better than others, I definitely need to change Georgie's facial expression as it doesn't look like her at the moment!
